Retreat Coordinator
Hosting yoga retreats is a dream come true for many yoga teachers, a life affirming experience for both students and teachers. Retreats offer a place for teachers to form deep connections with their students, expand their own teaching practice, step out of their comfort zone, experience something new and away from the drum of everyday life.
When it comes to the logistics of planning there is a lot of work that goes into retreats behind the scenes. The planning and organising of a retreat can be overwhelming and difficult to navigate for teachers, especially on an international level. Trying to locate and liaise with chefs, find accommodation, travel with yoga equipment, plan activities, and all the other bits in between.
Our mission is to support teachers throughout their journey in creating their dream retreat. We will look after the practicalities behind the scenes. Including accommodation at our retreat, meals cooked by our in-house chef, transfers to and from the airport, planning adventures, and much more. Creating space for teachers to connect deeply with their students, immerse themselves in their practice, and fully soak up the experience they have created.
A bit about us
We are a new all-inclusive Yoga Retreat located in Tanzania, Africa, opening June 2025. Our retreat is located in the central highlands of Tanzania, perched on the hilltops, and nestled in nature. We’re away from the typical tourist trail, boosting an authentic connection with the rhythm of life in Tanzania.
Our retreat has been purpose built to host yoga retreats, with both an indoor yoga studio and outdoor yoga deck, complete with yoga mats and blocks, bespoke chalet accommodation, communal dining area and bar, woodfire saunas, and a team of awesome people.
Itinerary
So how do you plan a yoga retreat? At Origins Africa Yoga Retreat we offer bespoke, tailor made retreats that are totally unique. We want teachers to feel supported throughout their entire journey with us.
Airport Transfers
We at Origins Africa want you to feel at ease from the moment you arrive, airport transfers will be part of the package here, we will collect guests from the local airport and drive them to the retreat.
Adventures and Activities
We will work with teachers to curate and customise retreat itineraries, creating an outline for the retreat together. This will include the teacher’s yoga schedule but also what else comes along with the retreat, giving people insight into what they can expect.
We offer a range of activities and excursions, such as visiting local markets and tribal villages, doing meaningful projects, painting and arts, and going on safari. Together with teachers we will organise and plan the schedule of chosen activities, ensuring everything fits together seamlessly.
Support network
Origins Africa is committed to offer a wide range of support for teachers. The team is based between Edinburgh and Tanzania offering support throughout the entire journey from the early stages to the delivery of the retreat. Teachers can really get to know us before even heading out to the retreat.
At the retreat we have an awesome team of people who really bring our retreat to life creating a relaxing and welcoming vibe. Ensuring teachers and their guests feel completely at ease and taken care of during their stay.
Food
Dinner time at Origins Africa is a high point for everyone, sit back and relax and enjoy locally sourced food cooked by our in-house chef.
In terms of curating a menu we will work with teachers in curating a menu unique to them. It is important for us to create a menu together that aligns and caters to teachers and their guests.
We will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with snacks, soft drinks, coffee and tea. Alcohol will also be available at an additional cost. Just picture freshly picked avocado and mango salads and sipping on fresh lemon grass tea grown in our gardens.
